ACT TravelWise held three highly successful fringe events called "Delivering a Low Carbon Transport System" at the Labour, Liberal Democrat and Conservative party conferences

Influencing government policy marked a huge event for us and our members. The Association secured the invaluable presence of the key people in transport today which included: Maria Eagle MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Transport, Norman Baker MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport and Theresa Villiers MP, Minister of State for Transport.

The panelists for the events also included, Sally Herbert, ACT TravelWise Director, Greg Archer, Managing Director, LowCVP, Michael Webb, Head of Public Affairs, Freight Transport Association and James Hookham - Managing Director for Policy and Communications, Freight Transport Association the events were chaired by Neil Scales, ACT TravelWise Chair and Chief Executive and Director General of Merseytravel.

The panellists provided the context and the expertise which produced dynamic and informative events. All the ACT TravelWise events attracted a good

attendance from a significant amount of MP's and councillors for all three party political conferences from the conferences. The Q & A sessions were wide ranging and included discussions on themes on the role of smart ticketing and the efforts being taken to integrate cycling, walking and public transport as well as other modes of transport. Other lively themes included the problems of bus deregulation and enabling technology to make low carbon vehicles more affordable and attractive.
